last week, i spent some time at the bookstore. i was looking for books on grammar and vocabulary so that i can brush up on my japanese. after much looking around and comparison, i finally picked out the one that would fit my level. while i was walking to the cashier to pay for my grammar book, a book with a comic cover caught my eye. it featured the cartoon character こげぱん (kogepan = burnt bread) and i couldn't help but pick it up. it's titled "osaka & kobe travelogue". i casually flipped through the pages and think, this is the perfect book to read about the famous places and restaurants, AND learn japanese!
the book is full of fun illustrations and descriptions that it makes it easy to read. the illustrator of kogepan is also known for her sarcasm and funny comments. besides the "osaka & kobe" series, there's also the "hokkaido", "okinawa", and "kyoto" series. maybe after i finish the current one, i'll consider getting the rest!(meet the kogepan team! homepage: http://www.san-x.co.jp/pan/)

i didn't know kogepan is still around
ReplyDeleteyeah, i read somewhere that the illustrator left the original company (san-x) and is now publishing on her own...
